Change your life
forever...
Telliquah Preserve is an exclusive enclave of premium
riverfront homesites. The Cherokee nation is a rich part of its
history, and Telliquah Preserve is the site of the former Elijah
Johnson Estate. If you can afford the finer things in life, you know
how rare property like this is.
The beautiful aerial photo to the right shows several of
the Telliquah Preserve Homesites on the right bank of the Tellico
River, as it gently cascades and meanders downstream. Imagine stepping
from your own porch, walking along the smooth river rocks and cooling
your feet in the refreshing fresh water. Even at this elevation, you
can see how clear the river is! The fall color in the surrounding
forests hint at the variety of flora for which the Cherokee National
Forest is renowned. Through the trees on the left side of the river you
can see a portion of the nearby Cherohala Skyway, a national scenic
byway which has its start in Tellico Plains and climbs through the
Smoky Mountains into North Carolina, connecting the Cherokee National
Forest with the Nantahala National Forest.

| "Telliquah Preserve is the
perfect culmination of a search that began for us almost a decade ago.
We started to visit the mountains of eastern Tennessee and western
North Carolina more and more, each time dreaming of having a personal
property to enjoy with family and friends one day. Many places captured
our attention (Townsend, Fontana, Highlands, Toxaway, Asheville,
Waynesville, etc.) but there was always something not quite right. Once
the beautiful (but still unknown) treasure of the Cherohala Skyway was
discovered, we visited the area again and again. Even before the
Telliquah dream began to take shape, we noticed the rare and eclectic
charm of Tellico Plains. It is on the edge of “the middle of nowhere”
but also on the edge of convenience and civilization! It is minutes
from some of the highest and most beautiful mountains with natural
forests, but still close to many wonderful streams, rivers, and the TVA
lakes. Touring, biking, hiking, fishing, hunting, white water, boating,
camping, it is all here! It also became clear that others had noticed
its extraordinary and quaint rural appeal, and that its potential would
soon be realized.
Once the Bistro restaurant was opened, we
often stopped in for some of the best food in the mountains. When one
such stop displayed the new development dream of the Preserve, we were
instantly interested. It seemed a first class development, but
understated and reserved. All our marriage, we have been committed to
making mutual “unchecked” decisions of this nature, and often found
major purchases like this to fade in enthusiasm once subjected to
patient review and prayer. But we were both totally unchecked and
excited about this from the beginning, sealed the deal on the first
sales visit, and have not regretted it! It seems to be a place that
will remain uncrowded and pristine for some time, yet still offering
the increasing benefits of development and a great appreciation in
value. The opportunity to have a lot fronting directly onto one of the
last true free-flowing and untouched rivers in the country while
bordering a national forest was too much to ignore. We have since been
so excited to develop the plans for our dream of a “gathering place”
for our family and friends. The more we discover about Tellico and
Telliquah, the more excited we become! It is now obvious that the value
of the natural treasures of the area is exceeded only by its people!
We look forward to getting to know the people
and the area even better. We are so thankful and blessed to be a part
of this very special place called Telliquah!"
